Aldovrandi impresses at Kempton

ALDOVRANDI lost his maiden tag in fine style on Saturday afternoon in a mile conditions race at Kempton.
The son of Cape Cross, who was second in Italy on his sole start at two, was the only maiden in the six-strong field but was a well-backed 8/1 chance.
The pace in the early stages was very moderate and it took a furlong for jockey Ryan Moore to settle his mount.
However, once relaxed Aldovrandi travelled with ease just on the heels of the leaders.
On entering the straight Moore switched him to the inside and he showed a good turn of foot to draw upside the favourite Azizi and go clear inside the final furlong, winning by a length.
An impressed Moore said: "That was very pleasing. He was a little edgy in the stalls and slightly missed the break but they went slow early on.
"I got a good split and he quickened up very well. I think he'll probably get a mile and a quarter."
