Bois Joli and Angel Rock in winning form

By Tony Rushmer

TRAINER Marco Botti has been in good form with both Bois Joli and Angel Rock scoring in the last four days. Bois Joli secured her first career success in England on October 25 when winning an apprentice race at Wolverhampton on October 25. Andrea Atzeni was aboard as the Orpen filly as she broke through on what was her sixth career start. Having been held up towards the rear, she asserted well down the straight and grabbed the lead from Hawk Flight just inside the final furlong in the mile-and-a-half contest. In the closing strides Bois Joli showed a game attitude as she staved off Black Rain to score by a neck at odds of 7/1. On October 29 it was the turn of the progressive Angel Rock to demonstrate his tough streak in recording his second win for the Botti team in 2008. A largely unconsidered 16/1shot, he slugged it out from the front end throughout the extended 1m handicap at Nottingham. Ted Durcan did a brilliant job in the saddle on the son of Rock Of Gibraltar, who fought back after being headed by the favourite Rhadegunda over 2f out. Angel Rock simply refused to give in and rallied to lead again inside the final furlong, striving to a neck victory. It was Botti’s 39th winner of what has been a superb season.
