FIULIN ran out a convincing winner on his seasonal reappearance, taking the Further Flight at Nottingham.
The son of Galileo showed progressive form as a three-year-old, finishing in the frame in Group 2 company at Newmarket on his final start in 2008.
Now he is set for a step back up to that class with the Yorkshire Cup his target after scoring by six lengths under John Egan.
With fast ground depleting the field, Fiulin was sent off at odds-on and won like a short-priced favourite should do.
He made every yard and when The Betchworth Kid offered a challenge Fiulin found plenty for Egan to give Botti a third stakes winner of 2009.
He said: "I'm very pleased with the way he won. He did everything right on ground that was probably too quick for him. I don't think he could have done it any better. He never looked like getting beaten."
"He will come on a lot for the race. He is a big horse, so it was very important to get a run into him for the plan we have for him in the future.
"He needed it just to get him 100 per cent. The Yorkshire Cup was the plan before the race and that hasn't changed. All being well, we will go to York next month."
