Gitano Hernando - The latest

TRAINER Marco Botti has given a positive bulletin about his Dubai World Cup hope Gitano Hernando.

The son of Hernando came through his prep run in the Listed Winter Derby Trial at Lingfield in fine style and remains on target for the world's richest horse race on 27 March.

Botti said: "He has come out of that race in good order and is training well. I thought the race at Lingfield was the perfect prep race for him as they went a good pace and he was able to quicken up well without having a hard race.

"Gitano should come on for his first run and be spot on for Dubai.

"He flies out on March 20 and Kieren Fallon will hopefully partner him in some work the Friday before he flies to Dubai."

The Hamilton Road trainer also had some news of his 1000 Guineas hope, Electric Feel.

Joey Barton's filly capped a successful 2009 with a win in the Listed Radley Stakes at Newbury and since then has been thought of as a possible candidate for the fillies' Classic on May 2.

Botti said of the daughter of Firebreak: "She has been working nicely and is on target for a run in either the Nell Gwyn or the Fred Darling.

"She has done well over the winter and looks to be stronger physically, we have entered her in both the English and French Guineas but will run in a trial race first to see whether she is up to that sort of level."
