Gitano Hernando in fluent Wolves win

THE Marco Botti team was able to celebrate a notable success on September 17 as Gitano Hernando powered to an impressive victory in an extended mile conditions race at Wolverhampton.

Owned by Team Valor, the chestnut colt has been off the track since finishing second in the Group 3 Dee Stakes at Chester.

But he showed no signs of rustiness in triumphing for jockey Kieren Fallon at odds of 3/1. The son of Hernando has now won three of his four starts and showed on his latest assignment that he is very much on the upgrade.

Fallon had Gitano Hernando sat fourth as the field went through the early stages of the £12,000 race. Content to get a nice tow into the race, Fallon then asked for more from his mount turning for home, over 2f out.

Gitano Hernando proceeded to show what a fine stride and turn of foot he possess as he surged to the front just over a furlong from home.

He wasn't stopping, either, through, the final stages and had two lengths in hand upon hitting the line.
