Kavak triumphs at Lingfield

KAVAK got off the mark at the third time of asking with an impressive victory in a mile maiden at Lingfield on saturday evening.

The son of Dubawi, sent off a 12-1 chance, had previously ran well in competitive maidens at Newmarket and Yarmouth but looked to have learned plenty from those outings.

Jockey Darryll Holland had his mount settled among the leaders and Kavak always travelled smoothly.

On entering the straight Holland went for home and the colt showed a good turn of foot, galloping strongly to the line to score by four and a half lengths.

This win - the trainer's fourth in the last 10 days - continued the good form of the Marco Botti stable taking its tally of winners to 23 for the year.
