Mercoliano in easy Wolverampton win

MERCOLIANO got off the mark in scintillating fashion on February 22 when taking a 1m1f maiden at Wolverhampton.

The son of Medicean, a 6/1 shot in the market, seemed to have learnt a lot from his two previous runs at the track and ran out a decisive winner.

Jockey Andrea Atzeni was granted an easy lead by the other jockeys and he set a moderate pace.

Along the back straight Atzeni upped the tempo and had the rest of the field under pressure on entering the straight.

Mercoliano kicked off the turn and soon went clear, winning at the line by an eased down nine lengths.

He could not have been more professional and can hopefully make up into another useful performer for trainer Marco Botti's team.
