ANGEL ROCK gained a fourth career success when scoring in a mile handicap at Haydock on May 21.
The son of Rock of Gibraltar was given a good ride by Andre Atzeni who settled his mount in midfield before beginning his challenge from 2f out.
He got to the front as they approached the final furlong and just managed to hold off the late charge of Rattan to win by a head at odds of 6-1.
In doing so, Angel Rock once again showed how tough a competitor he is in testing underfoot conditions.
His previous win had come in heavy going at Nottingham and in this latest assignment he demonstrated battling qualities in soft ground.
The victory continued the good-form of the Marco Botti stable who also had a winner last Friday at Newmarket courtesy of Electric Feel.
