Thrilling win by Ambrogina

THE exceptional form of Marco Botti's string shows no sign of stopping with Ambrogina becoming the latest winner on January 5.

The Osorio filly landed a 6f maiden at Southwell to secure Botti's fourth winner from his last five runners.

Indeed, since mid-December, Marco has registered six successes and notched three other placed finishers from just 12 runners.

The statistics are excellent by anyone's standards and underline the fine fettle of the Green Ridge Stables' inmates.

Ambrogina provided the yard with its latest winner and she did so in game fashion.

Dropped back from 1m to a sprint trip she needed every yard of the six furlongs to get the job done.

Jockey Jimmy Quinn lost his whip approaching the final furlong but still managed to ride a finish and get up in the shadow of the post.

It went to a photo between Ambrogina and Freddie's Girl but Botti's charge got the verdict by a nose to return the 7/4 scorer.
