CEREMONIAL Jade made it back-to-back wins at Great Leighs as he ran out a convincing scorer of the £40,000 conditions stakes on September 27.
Trainer Marco Botti, earlier on target with Princess Taylor at Haydock, recorded an across-the-card double as the Giuliano Manfredini-owned five-year-old took his career earnings to over £100,000 with his latest triumph.
Last seen at Great Leighs when winning just over two months ago, Ceremonial Jade could barely have been more impressive in this 6f event as he handed out a two-and-a-quarter length beating to Asset. The Botti-trained gelding was held up on the heels of the leaders before being unleashed with a stirring challenge from over 2f out. A 5-1 shot, he surged to lead ahead of the furlong pole and then rattled home in fine style for jockey John Egan for his seventh career triumph.
Botti said: “He is a lovely horse and just seems to keep improving. Last night he was quite impressive and what pleased me most was that when he hit the front he just kept going. He does seem to be a different horse on the all-weather.
“We are now likely to consider Listed options at either Lingfield or Kempton. Next spring, his target will the Dubai International Racing Carnival. He is the right type of horse to run there.” Also at Great Leighs, Re Barolo ran a fine race to finish second in the 9f conditions race. He really motored through the final 2f but was just unable to peg back Lucky Find.
Botti added: “He is a consistent horse and flew up the straight and was a little unlucky not to catch the winner.” The horse has an engagement at Tattersalls at the end of October, but if he remains at Green Ridge Stables, there is a 1m 2f Listed race at Kempton just before Christmas which looks suitable for him. |
