Brave Jade so tough in Listed win

MARCO Botti and his Green Ridge Stables team were able to celebrate a second stakes success in a fortnight as Ceremonial Jade struck at Wolverhampton on March 7.

The six-year-old emulated Re Barolo's Lingfield achievement by winning in Listed company with John Egan the jockey on both occasions.

The latest triumph came in the 7f Lady Wulfruna Stakes with co-favourite Ceremonial Jade returning victorious at odds of 4/1/

It was his first win in the grade and was thoroughly deserved following placed efforts in last year’s Cleves Stakes and the Sunbury Stakes.

After being held up in the early stages by John Egan, Ceremonial Jade went on to become involved in a cracking duel upfront with Vitznau.

Through the last furlong the pair slugged it out with Ceremonial Jade wresting control late on to score by a head. It was a splendid eigth victory by the gelding in 26 starts for Botti.
