January Winners have produced a great start to the 2012 season

January has seen a great start to the 2012 season, with the start of the flat season looming the horses are shaping up nicely. The Marco Botti team have produced 4 winners in January from 10 runners, which makes for an impressive strike rate.
The first winner of the New Year did not take long and on the 6th January, Appealing lost her maiden tag at the second time of asking. The Miss Yvonne Jacques owned 3 year old showed a great turn of foot, to win at Wolverhampton.
Friday 13th proved to be lucky for Frosty Berry and her connections as she won on the first time of asking.
Frosty Berry's win was quickly followed up by the nail biting win of Canary Wharf. Canary Wharf having his first start for Marco and his new owners, Mr Manfredini & Mr Allison. After the application of blinkers, as he had been working somewhat sluggishly at home. Canary Wharf seemed to really wake up in the last furlong, making it a real ding- dong battle to the line.
Kempton Park on the 26th of January was the scene of Whaileyy's win, in the famous Authorized colours. Whaileyy a son of Holy Roman Emperor, battled away gamely to win very comfortably.
Earlier that day had seen Marcret, having his first start for Marco run very creditably to finish 3rd in the Group 2 Al Rashidiya stakes in Dubai.
All in all January looks set to make a fantastic start to what hopes to be a great 2012 season.
