'One' more win for in-form Botti team

By Tony Rushmer

ONE SLICK Chick maintained the excellent form of trainer Marco Botti’s all-weather team with victory on her second career start at Wolverhampton on the evening of February 14. From Green Ridge Stables-based Botti’s last 13 runners, he has sent out four winners while another five horses have been placed.

This daughter of One Cool Cat contributed to the tally with a taking success - despite drifting significantly in the betting. She’d finished second on her debut at Great Leighs in December and was installed at 2/1 in the market at Wolves. By the time the gates sprung for the 1m 1f maiden One Slick Chick was 4/1. But she defied the drift after being held up by jockey John Egan and then coming with a concerted effort from 3f out. She reined in the favourite Shaws Diamond 1f out and ran on through the closing strides for victory by a length and a half. It was a very pleasing performance by the Anita Nicol-owned filly and hopefully she can progress again from this. The win provided a very good end to a previously frustrating day as Botti charges Saltagioo and Sulution had both finished second at Kempton and Lingfield, respectively, during the afternoon.
