Old Newton Cup win for Dylan Mouth

The three time Italian Group 1 winner, Dylan Mouth had his first win in Britain on Saturday, landing the Old Newton Cup at odds of 25-1. The six-year-old was carrying top weight, when he stormed clear in the final furlong of the race to land the £100,000 prize by 2 ¼ lengths to the Mark Johnston trained Soldier In Action.

The winning jockey Harry Bentley said: “He is a proper horse, he’s rated 104 for a reason. Off top weight there’s a bit of a worry that he’s in no man’s land but he has done everything very well today.

“He’s a big, solid horse so the weight’s not been a problem. I got a good run through, I was in the last quarter of the field but they went nice gallop up front which helped us. It all went smoothly.”

Dylan Mouth has come out of the race well and holds an entry in the upcoming Tattersalls July Sale on Friday 14th July.
